News has just broken that the title for the upcoming Halo sequel will be Halo 5: Guardians.
General Manager of developers 343 Industries, Bonnie Ross, has described the game as a “bigger effort than Halo 4″, adding that the XboxOne exclusive will run at 60fps, feature dedicated servers and will exploit the new hardware capabilities of the next-gen console while retaining elements that made previous entries in the series the huge successes they were.
“Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen. It’s a game that will hopefully demonstrate the talent, learnings and abilities of the 343 Industries team.”
She described the adventure as a “journey” rather than a destination; which makes sense seeing as this is intended to be the bridge of a new trilogy that begun with 2012s Halo 4.
Halo 5: Guardians will launch on Xbox One in fall of 2015.
Further details will no doubt be unveiled at Microsoft’s E3 presentation, which will be held on June 9th. For us Brits, we recommend setting your alarms for 2am June 10th, if our calculations are correct.
