From the publishers behind the crazy looking Tokyo 42, comes a new game called The Colonists. Developed solely by Richard Wallis of Codebyfire, The Colonists is a settlement building game inspired by titles such as Anno and The Settlers.

screenshot_close2The premise of the game involves the player taking control of a team of robots who have discovered a new planet and are busy preparing it for habitation by the inhabitants of their homeworld.

According to the press release:

You’ll advance from the Stone Age to the Space Age as you build the infrastructure for your colony by constructing complex road, boat, train and drone transport systems.

Sounds like Age of Empires, in space and with robots! The game involves harvesting the newly discovered planet’s natural resources, terra-forming terrain, trading with allies or conquering other civilisations.

You have to prepare the newly discovered planet to be habitable. Seems like a nice planet so far!

The game will feature a multitude of different game modes including a single player campaign, a free-play mode, competitive multiplayer and co-operative play. The game will be available on PC in Early Access on August 2017. There is no confirmation regarding whether other platforms are supported but we will be writing to the devs/publishers to confirm.

We will keep you updated as soon as we hear further. You can find more info on the official website.
