Nordic Games is to resurrect the THQ label after acquiring the rights to the defunct brand.
Nordic Games who purchased a good chunk of titles during the THQ liquidation last year intends to use the brand to sell some of its upcoming games.
Nordic GM Klemens Kruezer revealed the plans in an interview with Polygon “It was kind of surprise to some industry veterans and players that we were the winner of the auction of the THQ titles,” Klemens said. “The challenging fact is nobody has ever heard about Nordic Games before. There were so many articles with the headlines ‘Who the fuck is Nordic Games?’. We said, okay they were right.
“We are small team. The expectations from outside regarding the IPs of THQ are really high. We see it everyday on our Facebook sites.”
Nordic Games beat many other studios to the sales lot which included over 150 titles with popular IP’s such as Red Faction, Destroy All Humans, Stuntman, MX vs ATV and of course Darksiders included.
Lars Wingefors, owner and CEO of Nordic Games Group AB at the time said “In the long term, we either want to cooperate with the original creators or best possible developers in order to work on sequels or additional content for these titles,”
A lot of fans (myself included) have wondered if another Darksiders would ever come about and it appears that Klemens Kruezer achknoledges the fans are eager for Darksiders 3.
“This is where we need some more patience from the fans, because we want to be able to do it right. The owner of Nordic Games has given [interviews] where he has said that he doesn’t want to make a shitty sequel.”
Kruezer has confirmed that there will be announcements made at Gamescom in August.
